Public Notice - ARP IDEA Funds

A meeting will be held at the Fostoria City Schools Administration Offices, 1001 Park Avenue, Fostoria, OH at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021.  The purpose of the meeting is to provide community members the opportunity to share their thoughts on how ARP IDEA Part B Special Education funds should be appropriated to best meet the needs of students for the 2021-2022 school year. Winter Sports Meeting

Dear Winter Sports Athletes and Parents,

You have indicated an interest in participating in a winter sport at FJSHS. Here are a few things that need to be in place before winter sports season begins:

All participants MUST have an up to date physical form, signed by a physician on file.

All participants AND PARENTS MUST sign all forms in FINAL FORMS. If you need assistance accessing your Final Forms account, please contact the school office at 419-436-4110.

The mandatory OHSAA preseason meeting for parents/guardians and athletes will be held on Sunday, October 24 at 6pm in the varsity gym at FHS. All athletes and a parent or guardian MUST be in attendance.

The first day of practice for winter sports are listed below:

Girls Basketball grades 7-12: 	      October 22
Boys Basketball grades 7-12 	      October 29
Swimming grades 9-12 		      October 29
Wrestling grade 7-12 		      November 12

Please contact your coaches if you have any specific questions regarding the sport you plan to participate in this winter.

Food Service Department Message

Like many other school districts, Fostoria School Food Service is experiencing outages in regard to food items and supplies. Due to these shortages and limited availability of products, it may be necessary for us to change the menu for students. We will give as much notice as possible and list any substitutions to the menu that will be served on the district website.

PREFACE: All Ohio schools closed for the remainder of the school calendar beginning on March 16, 2020, by order of the Governor and the Ohio Department of Health Director in response to the COVID 19 pandemic. On July 2, 2020, Governor DeWine released the Reset & Restart Planning Guide for Schools and this Plan was created with those recommendations in mind. This plan has been developed in compliance with the American Rescue Plan: Elementary and Secondary School
Emergency Relief Fund (ARP ESSER).
These general principles will continue to guide Fostoria City Schools as we move forward with reopening:

1. Fostoria City Schools will implement safety protocols as realistically as possible.
2. Fostoria City Schools will work closely with the Seneca County Health Department to promote safety.
3. Fostoria City Schools students and personnel are expected to self-monitor daily through wellness checks including taking their own temperature before reporting to school. Those experiencing a temperature above 100F or experiencing other symptoms are asked to remain at home. Additional health monitoring at school may occur due to an increased risk of COVID-19 in our community.
4. Fostoria City Schools will be transparent with all stakeholders that some level of risk will always be present when children and school district employees occupy school district facilities.
5. Fostoria City Schools is planning to maintain their previously approved school calendar for the 2021-2022 school year.

Free Meals for ALL Students in 2021-2022 School Year

The Department received approval to offer free breakfast and free lunch to ALL students attending schools on the national school lunch program through the entire 2021-2022 school year. This opportunity continues the US Department of Agriculture and Ohio Department of Education’s dedication to meeting the needs of the whole child during the COVID-19 pandemic. The expanded program will provide nutritious meals to all students with fewer barriers, serving children learning in person and remotely.
