FES Administration

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!

Fostoria Elementary school has over 1,000 students, and when it comes to what is best for students, our teachers and staff are our greatest asset! The staff at Fostoria Elementary strives to help each of our families and students feel welcome, safe and valued. We focus on communicating positively, effectively and proactively with our families in a variety of ways to meet the individual learning needs of our students by offering targeted support including gifted services, individualized education plans, counseling services and community connections. Having all the students on one campus provides us with more opportunities to collaborate with PK-6 and involve students from the Fostoria Junior High and Senior High to mentor our  PK-6 students.

Fostoria Elementary School has many outstanding academic opportunities to offer our students. We are a Lighthouse and Leader in Me School, utilizing the 7 Habits to help students build the social and emotional foundation to be lifelong leaders. This year we will continue to develop and refine our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to reinforce behavioral, social and emotional goals of our students. The staff at Fostoria Elementary believes in showing appreciation for positive behavior and demonstration of our school-wide expectations of being safe, responsible and respectful leaders.

Our highly skilled teaching staff does a first-rate job teaching state standards in an effective way. We have a comprehensive MTSS program to identify at-risk learners and provide them the targeted support they need. We have highly trained intervention staff to assist students who are struggling to reach grade level expectations. We are fortunate to have a math and literacy coach, as well as a dyslexia specialist.

We have a high-level of technology in our building with interactive teaching devices in every room. We have a 1:1 device for each student in grades 3-6, and shared carts preK-2. This allows our students to experience working with technology on a regular basis.

Our Preschool program is recognized by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services as a 5-Star Step Up to Quality program. This is the highest rating and recognized programs that follow standards that lead to improved outcomes for children, and utilizes peer models, social skills, age-appropriate standards and enrichment for students as they prepare for kindergarten. Our program is taught by licensed teachers and provides a developmentally appropriate curriculum guided by Ohio State Standards.

Our Parent Lighthouse Team has an annual budget of well over $10,000 which is used over the year on our students and staff. Our PLT provides help with Book Vending Machines, field trips, movie nights, Title nights, t-shirts, Trunk-or-Treat, water bottles for students, assemblies, Thanksgiving Feast, Bouncy Houses at Field Day, Teacher Appreciation, and other family events.

Our entire team is eager and excited to begin a new year! One of the greatest strengths of the Fostoria learning community is the genuine care and compassion shared between staff, students and families. Fostoria Elementary is a place where staff and families come together to ensure that the children entrusted into our care grow to be productive, confident, compassionate members of a global society.

We look forward to an exciting year!
