Yesterday, FES second graders went to the Fountain Memorial Cemetery to help put flags on veterans' graves for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday. This was a great learning opportunity for our students and an excellent way for them to participate in community service.
The students in the 4th grade participated in a "Habitat Hustle" theme day. They enjoyed making jelly fish, a habitat flip book, an octopus, and an animal out of legos, played animal charades, took a virtual tour of world oceans, and had an animal cookie snack. Everyone, including the teachers, had a fun time!!
It was great having Safety Town at FES last Friday! Through a grant, and with the collaboration between the City of Fostoria, the Fostoria Police Department, the Fostoria Fire Department, the Fostoria City Schools, and volunteers, more than 20 pre-school-aged students learned important safety laws while having fun in and out of the classroom.

Ms. Caudill's preschool class finished their Earth unit by making dirt pudding. They crushed up Oreos to make the dirt and topped it off with gummy worms! 🪱
Last night, we had the opportunity to honor our staff who have been in the district for milestone years, including 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 years! We also celebrated those who retired or are retiring this year. We appreciate everyone who came to celebrate and recognize our staff members. For the 6th graders who didn't go to camp, camp came to them! This week, they will be doing fun camp-themed activities. Yesterday, they discussed survival skills and set up campsites! After lunch and recess, they went on a nature hike scavenger hunt and made s’mores!
We had the opportunity to recognize some great people at Monday evening's Fostoria Board of Education meeting! Maintenance workers and bus drivers were recognized, along with the many volunteers in our district. We are so lucky to have all of you, and we appreciate your dedication to our students and community.
Just a reminder that our last parent café is happening tonight, Tuesday, April 29th, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM in Legacy Hall.
We’ll have free childcare, snacks, and drinks available, plus some great resources for families to take home. We’re also excited to have some special guests from the Positive Education Program (P.E.P.) who will share tips on handling challenging behaviors in kids.

The Staff Acknowledgment Committee hosted a painting activity after school yesterday. Teachers and staff came together and enjoyed showing off our artistic painting capabilities!
