Mrs. Reinhart's class receiving Volunteer of the Year award

Fostoria City Schools is proud to share that Mrs. Ashley Reinhart's cross-categorical classroom has been named Membership Volunteer of the Year by the Geary Family YMCA.

This recognition reflects the strong partnership between our students and the YMCA, as well as the real-world learning experiences that are central to this classroom.

The cross-categorical unit focuses on building life skills and preparing students for success after high school. Through intentional instruction and hands-on experiences, students develop communication skills, responsibility, teamwork, and workplace readiness.

As part of their volunteer work at the YMCA, students assist with dusting, cleaning equipment, shredding paper, and other behind-the-scenes tasks that help keep the facility running smoothly. These responsibilities are meaningful opportunities for students to practice consistency, follow-through, time management, and pride in their work.

Teacher, Ashley Reinhart, and the paraprofessional in her classroom, Kim Moore, are committed to helping students build independence and confidence by connecting school-based learning with authentic community experiences. Through this partnership, students are not only learning skills for life after graduation — they are actively contributing to the Fostoria community today.

This award is a testament to the dedication of our students, the leadership of their teacher, and the ongoing support of the YMCA staff who welcome and mentor them.

We are incredibly proud of this group for representing Fostoria City Schools with professionalism, positivity, and a strong work ethic.

Inspire. Succeed. Leave a Legacy.
