National Scrabble day

By Gabriella Guzman

Every year on April 13th, the world comes together in a blur of words for National Scrabble Day. It was made to celebrate the game itself as long as honoring and celebrating the creator, who was born on April 13th 1899. The game was based on crossword puzzles and anagrams, originally called Criss Cross and then Lexiko. It was later redesigned and marketed by James Brunot. Brunot sold it only in Great Britain in 1954. It was later inducted into the hall of fame for toys in 2004.

There are many ways to celebrate Scrabble. Most cities have national scrabble tournaments as the day approaches, or you could have your own at home with friends. You could show off photos, wins, and memories. You could create themed scrabbles, or play scrabble solitaire. You could even make scrabble based crafts or bake scrabble based snacks!
