Fostoria Elementary School sixth graders recently participated in Safety Forces Day, a special event designed to give students meaningful, hands-on experiences with those who serve and protect our community. The program was organized by School Resource Officer Shilo Frankart and Curriculum Director Tera Matz, who partnered with multiple local agencies to bring real-world learning to campus.
Throughout the day, students rotated through interactive sessions led by the Fostoria Police Department, Fostoria Fire Division, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office. Each station provided an opportunity for students to engage directly with professionals while learning about important safety topics.
Presentations included ALICE protocols, drug identification and awareness, fire safety, and emergency response procedures. Students not only gained valuable information but also had the chance to ask questions, explore equipment, and see firsthand how safety forces work together to protect the community.
Events like Safety Forces Day help bridge the gap between students and local first responders while reinforcing the importance of personal safety and community responsibility. FES is grateful to all the agencies and individuals who made the day possible and looks forward to continuing these meaningful partnerships.
